Chroma Cloud is winding down over the next 60 days. This page outlines the two service milestones and the actions customers should take to preserve access to their data and keep applications running.

Timeline#

November 22, 2026 — Writes disabled#

Thirty days after this notice, Chroma Cloud will become read-only. Applications will no longer be able to create, update, or delete data in Chroma Cloud.

Before this date:

  • Stop or redirect workloads that write to Chroma Cloud.
  • Move active workloads to another Chroma deployment or database.
  • Begin exporting and validating any data you need to retain.

Existing data will remain available for reads during the following 30-day read-only period.

December 22, 2026 — Reads disabled#

Sixty days after this notice, Chroma Cloud will no longer serve read requests. Complete all exports and migration work before this date.

Before this date:

  • Finish exporting any data you need to retain.
  • Verify that migrated applications no longer depend on Chroma Cloud endpoints.
  • Remove or rotate Chroma Cloud credentials stored in your applications and infrastructure.

Open-source ChromaDB continues#

This transition applies only to the existing Chroma Cloud service. Open-source ChromaDB remains available under the Apache 2.0 license, and Replit will continue contributing to the project.
