EU Region Support

April 9, 2026 · Chroma Cloud

Chroma Cloud databases can now run in GCP in europe-west1, in addition to the existing AWS us-east-1 region.

When creating a new database, you can now choose which region it runs in. Your data is stored and processed entirely within the region you select. There's nothing to configure beyond selecting the region at creation time.

What to expect#

  • Full database API parity, everything available in us-east-1 works the same in europe-west1
  • Lower latency for European workloads
  • Data residency in the EU, simplifying compliance requirements

Existing databases in us-east-1 are unaffected. If you need to move data to europe-west1, create a new database in the EU region and migrate your data over.

Chroma Sync, which lets you automatically sync data from sources like S3, websites and GitHub repositories into a database, is not available in europe-west1 at launch.

Get Started#

EU region is available today for all Chroma Cloud plans. Select europe-west1 when creating a new database in the dashboard or via the API.
